CM lays importance to reduce traffic jamming on busiest roads

AGARTALA, October 28, 2024: Tripura Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha has directed the Traffic Police, Transport Department and Agartala Municipal Corporation (AMC) to work together in order to reduce traffic congestion on the busiest roads in the city. He has also instructed them to identify and develop new parking zones and advised relocating vendors who are currently situated along the city's crowded sites.
During a high-level meeting on traffic management held here Monday, the Chief Minister stressed the need to regulate the movement of battery-operated rickshaws on Agartala's busiest streets. He urged for regular inspections of flats and multi-storied buildings under construction, proper disposal of vehicles older than 15 years, and measures to control car sales.
"The traffic police must remain vigilant in managing vehicle speeds on the flyover," he stated. The Chief Minister also urged the PWD Secretary, Kiran Gitte, to expedite road-widening projects within the city.
The meeting was attended by Chief Secretary JK Sinha, Director General of Police Amitabh Ranjan, Secretary Dr Pradeep Kumar Chakraborty, PWD Secretary Kiran Gitte, DG (Intelligence) Anurag Dhankar, Transport Department Secretary CK Jamatia, West Tripura District Magistrate Dr Vishal Kumar, SP West Kiran Kumar and Traffic Police Superintendent Manik Das.
