CJI opens new Aizawl Bench building of Gauhati high court

The new building has the total floor area of 13773.11 sqm

AIZAWL, September 02 2023: Chief Justice of India Dr Justice Dhananjaya Y Chandrachud inaugurated the new building of Gauhati High Court Aizawl Bench at Mizoram New Capital Complex (MINECO) in Aizawl Sunday. The inaugural function was attended by Zoramthanga, Chief Minister of Mizoram and Justice Sandeep Mehta, Chief Justice of the Gauhati High Court. 

In his inaugural speech Dr Justice Dhananjaya Y Chandrachud expresses his gratitude to all stakeholders for the completion of the new building. He also said that since court plays a crucial role in a successful judiciary system, development of its premises and other necessary technology facilities is important; but more significant thing we need to keep in mind in that we must stand with the rule of law and stand with the peaceful resolution of law. The rule of law is what sustains this nation and this new building also signifies the rule of law in the state, he added.

The new building is constructed from Non- Lapseable Central Pool Resources (NLCPR) with sanction amount of Rs 462. 12 lakh, architectural and structural design was done by PWD, Mizoram and North East Consultancy Services is the contractor. It comprises of main building, advocate building and visiting judge building with the total floor area of 13773.11 sqm.
