AGARTALA, September 19 2023: The Students for a Free Tibet (SFT) has called for a protest at New York to mark the Chinese presence at the ongoing United Nations General Assembly. They will organise a protest rally and meeting in the US city Wednesday to expose what it called China’s attempts to use the UN as a platform to legitimize China’s blatantly genocidal policies in Tibet.
The protest coincides visit of Chinese Vice President Han Zheng’s who is participating in the UNGC.
The SFT informed that stir has been organised at Dag Hammarskjöld Plaza, E 47th St, New York, NY 10017 at 3:30 PM EST.
In a statement SFT alleged that over one million Tibetan children are being forced to study in Chinese language and subjected to CCP political indoctrination. “In the past year alone, SFT and other Tibet groups' work have resulted in two separate United Nations Human Rights Council treaty bodies and various governments expressing grave concern over China’s attempts to eradicate the Tibetan language, culture, and identity through a system of coerced residential boarding schools”
It urged people at large to ‘Join Us Tomorrow” in sending a message to the “international community that Han Zheng has Tibetan blood on his hands, and is not welcome here”.
