Centre asks states and Union Territories to submit a report
On safety and security measures in place for doctors and workers

NATIONAL, September 04, 2024: The Centre has Wednesday requested all states and Union Territories to submit a report by September 10 on the safety and security measures in place for doctors and healthcare workers in medical institutions.
Union Health Secretary Apurva Chandra has written a letter to Chief Secretaries and Directors General of Police, urging them to take action. Each territory and district is asked to identify hospitals with high footfall and conduct security audits in collaboration with local authorities.
States are also urged to ensure that CCTV cameras are functioning properly and to conduct thorough background checks for outsourced personnel and contractual workers in hospitals.
