BSF seizes contrabands, narcotics worth Rs 24.23 lakh

AGARTALA, July 11 2020: BSF troops deployed on Indo-Bangladesh Border are fully committed to curb the menace of trans-border crimes particularly narcotics smuggling in Tripura. They are continuously conducting ‘Special Operations’ and succeeded in seizing huge quantity of narcotics and other contraband items on regular basis, following the COVID-19 protocol.
In continuation of such operations, during wee hours of July 11, special ambush party of Border out Post Dimatoli under District South Tripura observed suspicious movement of some miscreants in the close vicinity of IBB Fence. On being challenged the miscreants fled away from the spot towards Indian side taking advantage of darkness and undulating ground.
During thorough search of the area, BSF recovered a polythene bag containing 4,500 Yaba tablets worth Rs 22, 50,000. Seized Yaba Tablets were handed over to PR Bari police station for further legal action.
Besides above BSF troops also succeeded in seizing 540 bottles Phensedyl valued Rs 91,633 and other contraband items worth Rs 82,290 on the same, making the total value of the seizure to Rs. 24,23,923.
