AGARTALA, November 7, 2019: Mizoram Bru refugees housed in camps in north Tripura Thursday withdrew their indefinite road blockade stir after a group ministers visited them to assure restoration of supply of ration supply. Deputy Chief Minister Jishnu Debbarman led the team which also included two MPs from the state.
Debbarman later addressed hundreds of protestors who blocked roads at various places to placate them and assure them that ‘humanitarian assistance’ would continue.
He said: “We are here to support you. All issues can be settled. You will start getting ration from tomorrow”.
The road blockade stir had entered its eighth day on Thursday. Huge security deployment made on the first day itself, but forces remained mere spectator for absence of any specific instruction from the top.
Deputy Chief Minister Jishnu Debbarman however informed that Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) funded relief operation remained suspended.
MHA discontinued relief supply after its latest arrangements to repatriate the refugees to Mizoram virtually saw a breakdown.
