Border haats and export points in Meghalaya shut

SHILLONG, May 01 2021: In pursuance to the order of Home (Political) Department dated April 28 2021 and in order to safeguard the population at large from an uncontrollable surge in Covid-19 cases in East Khasi Hills District, the District Magistrate, East Khasi Hills in an order issued on April 30 2021 has suspended operations of border haats and export points in East Khasi Hills District till May 10.
According to the order, weekly markets will not operate as usual, but will be strictly regulated by the SDOs (C) and BDOs concerned to cater only to essential public requirements. BDOs will rope in Market Committees and Covid Management Committees to ensure awareness on Covid-19.
All Covid-19 preventive protocols of mask- wearing, social distancing and hand hygiene, etc should be strictly complied with by all concerned.
