AGARTALA, August 02 2020: BJP has lodged a formal complaint with police against a number of CPI(M) leaders including former MP Jitendra Choudhury for spreading lie in connection with falling of a statue at Khumulwng, headquarters of the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC).
CPI(M) leaders including Choudhury have been claiming in their micro blogging sites that the statue that depicted an indigenous woman in traditional attires was demolished by BJP-RSS cadres.
Initial investigation found that the statue collapsed during a cyclonic storm and not exactly was razed. This has confirmed that accusation was fallacious and politically motivated.
Mihir Sarkar, Secretary of BJP Tripura Pradesh, lodged the complaint with the Radhapur police station Sunday. It was subsequently registered as a FIR where Jitendra Choudhury, others and CPI(M) social media pages were made respondents.
The FIR was registered under 505(2), 153A(1)(a) and 120B of the IPC. Sub Inspector Jayanta Das has been made investigation officer.
