AGARTALA, March 31, 2024: The communist party gained power in Tripura with the support of individuals like Samir Ranjan Barman and the state Congress, which is currently led by his son. This alliance with the Communist Party of India (CPIM) has allowed them to maintain their hold on power for an extended period of time.
Addressing an election rally in Nalchar, Sepahijala district Sunday, Biplap Kumar Deb, former Chief Minister, Rajya Sabha MP and BJP candidate for the West Tripura constituency, criticised Congress leaders. He stated that the covert and sinister political manipulations of the Barman family had become evident to the people of the state.
Deb also claimed that CPIM State Secretary Jitendra Chowdhury was only able to win as an MLA because of the support of Tipra Motha. He argued that the opposition leaders, who accuse BJP's East Tripura candidate Kriti Singh Debbarma of being an outsider, have themselves adopted ideologies from China.
“In their 25 years of rule, the communists have failed to improve the socio-economic living standards of the people of the state, instead focusing on developing party offices while neglecting the needs of the people”, Deb alleged. He also highlighted the political violence perpetrated by both the Congress and the Communists, which has resulted in the loss of many lives and left many people homeless.
He asserted that in the last decade, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has transformed India into a global leader, but the opposition has resorted to caste politics in an attempt to disrupt this progress.
