Benefits extended to ST beneficiaries of NLFT(SD )

AGARTALA, January 13 2022: Tribal Welfare department has taken up various new initiatives for the socio-economic development as well as overall development of the tribal communities of the state. as a part of this initiative, the department organized the launching programme of extending benefits to ST beneficiaries for income generation and infrastructural developmental works under Special Economic Development Package, NLFT(SD) on January 3 2022 at Barakathal Bazar under Mohanpur sub-division.
The programme was launched by Tribal Welfare Minister Mevar Kumar Jamatia in presence of BAC Chairman of Lefunga RD Block Ranabir Debbarma, President of NLFT(SD) Sabir Kumar Debbarma and other dignitaries.
It is to be noted that the Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India has released fund of amount Rs 40.00 crore under Special Economic Development Package, NLFT(SD) for development of tribals of the state as per Memorandum of Settlement (MoS) signed between the central, the state government and NLFT(SD). Financial assistance has been provided to less privileged ST families through Agriculture, Horticulture & Soil Conservation, ARDD and Fisheries departments.
Assistance of 1 lakh rupees per family for Areca nut cultivation has been provided to total 242 ST families. Power tiller were distributed to total 50 ST families spending 1 lakh 50 thousand rupees per family. Assistance of 70 thousand rupees per family for goat rearing has been provided to total 400 ST families. Assistance of 70 thousand rupees per family for poultryfarming has been provided to total 400 ST families. Assistance of 1 lakh 50 thousand rupees per family for cattle farming has been provided to total 150 ST families.Assistance of 2 lakh rupees per family for pisciculture has been provided to total 90ST families.
Assistance of 1 lakh 20 thousand per stall has been provided for the construction of business stall and 30 thousand rupees each for working capital. Assistance of4 lakh 93 thousand 333 rupees per market shed has been provided for construction of30 open market shed at different locations. Assistance of 45 lakh rupees each has been provided for construction of 30 additional classrooms of NGO run school and for other infrastructural facilities. Assistance of 45 lakh 62 thousand 500 rupees each has been provided for construction of eight NGO run hostels.
Construction of a 10-bedded hospital at Borakha, Patni-Mandwi under Jirania sub-division at two crore rupees is to be done. Construction of a Vocational Training Centre cum Hostel near Gurkhabasti at 50 lakh rupees is to be done. This was informed in a press release issued by the Director of Tribal Welfare department Dr Vishal Kumar.
