Bangladesh tourist receives threat on life, moves police
Threatened after he refused to help release of seized fish consignment

AGARTALA, August 04 2022: A Bangladeshi tourist Thursday sought protection from the police after he received threat on his life. The man in his complaint registered at the West Agartala Police Station narrated his ordeal.
Police confirmed that Abdul Momin Babul, a resident of Brahmanbaria district in neighbouring Bangladesh, lodged a complaint where he alleged to have received threat on his life for refusing to help release of a fish consignment seized during a smuggling bid. The plaintiff claimed a group of people threatened him and his accomplice at a city hotel where they checked in.
The tourist however introduced him as a district leader of Bangladesh’s ruling Awami League and as a journalist.
Police said they are investigating the case with downright importance.
