AGARTALA, July 28, 2024: The Union Budget-2024-25 has seen a 73% increase in budgetary allocation for tribal welfare schemes, with around Rs 13,000 crore allocated for their implementation across the country, Union Minister for Tribal Affairs Jual Oram said here Sunday

He said the budget focuses on four classes: welfare of the poor, empowering women, skilling and employment opportunities for youth, and ensuring farmers' welfare to double their income. A 'Prime Minister's package of five schemes and initiatives' is proposed for employment, skilling, and other opportunities for 4.1 crore youth over a 5-year period, with a central outlay of Rs. two lakh crore.

The Uttar Purva Transformative Industrialisation Scheme-2024 is in force, focusing on industry development and employment generation in the North East and Tripura. Over Rs 3 lakh crore has been allocated to schemes benefiting women and girls to promote women-led development.

The government will introduce a New Credit Guarantee Scheme for facilitating term loans to MSMEs for machinery and equipment purchases without collateral or third-party guarantee. The Pradhan Mantri Janjati Unnat Gram Abhiyan Scheme will cover 63,000 villages and augment infrastructure such as road connectivity, power supply, and medical facilities, the Union Minister stated.
