AGARTALA, June 15, 2024: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has Saturday formed a four-member committee to investigate the violence that occurred during the Lok Sabha elections in West Bengal. The committee, led by former Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb (Convenor), Ravi Shankar Prasad, Brijlal, and Kavita Patidar, will visit the state and present a detailed report on the incidents.
The Trinamool Congress, BJP and the CPM-Congress have been engaged in a war of words, with each party blaming the others for the violence.
Taking a strong position on spate of unrest, BJP President JP Nadda has decided to send a "fact-finding" team to the state. The committee's main task will be to evaluate the incidents of political violence that have persisted in West Bengal since the 2024 elections, as stated by party general secretary Arun Singh in a statement.
