24 projects worth Rs 345.74 Cr sanctioned for flood control in NE
72nd plenary meeting of NEC at Agartala outlines development projects

REGIONAL, December 04, 2025: In December 2024, during the 72nd plenary meeting of the North Eastern Council at Agartala, the Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region established eight High-Level Task Forces (HLTFs), led by the Chief Ministers of North Eastern States. The HLTF on North-East Economic Corridor, chaired by the Chief Minister of Mizoram, is tasked with evaluating the investment ecosystem and economic infrastructure in the region.
The Minister of State of the Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region Dr Sukanta Majumdar stated in a written reply to a question in the Rajya Sabha Thursday.
It has convened three meetings thus far.
The PM-DevINE scheme projects are monitored by State Governments and the Ministry of DoNER via Field Technical Support Units and Third-Party Technical Inspection Agencies. Flood management projects are prioritized by State Governments, supplemented by the Union Government through the Flood Management Programme.
Over the last decade, 24 projects worth Rs 345.74 Cr have been sanctioned for flood control in NE States. These projects are monitored via the PM-Gati-Shakti portal and site inspections by officials from NEC and DoNER.
