AGARTALA, December 04, 2025: Ratan Lal Nath, the Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Minister, underlined the commitment of both the state and central governments to improving the lives of farmers during a workshop Thursday.
The Minister spoke at a Workshop and Input Distribution Programme on Plant Variety Protection and Farmers' Rights (PPV & FR Act) in Salema, Dhalai district. He highlighted the significance of the PPV&FRA, 2001, which aims to protect new plant varieties while also recognizing farmers' traditional rights.
The Act facilitates farmers' ownership and rights over crop varieties and promotes agricultural diversity. Nath noted that under the leadership of Prime Minister Modi, farmers are receiving more respect and support with initiatives in place to assist them in their development.
He also stressed the crucial role of agriculture in Tripura's economic growth and the increase in per-capita income.
