10 mentally challenged Bangladeshis return home
They were lodged in a psychiatric hospital in Tripura

AGARTALA, March 02, 2024: Indian authorities, in collaboration with the Bangladesh Assistant High Commission, have successfully facilitated the return of 10 Bangladeshi citizens who were previously confined in a mental asylum in Agartala.
They were reunited with their families at the Agartala-Akhaura border Saturday.
The event was attended by senior officials from the Bangladesh Assistant High Commission, Tripura government, as well as officers from the BSF and BGB.
Among the returnees was Sumi Akhtar, who had given birth to a child during her stay at the Modern Psychiatric Hospital. Originally from Narayanganj district in Bangladesh, Sumi's child is only three months old.
