10 killed in massive earthquake in Bangladesh, 600 injured
Measuring 5.7 on Richter scale had epicenter at Madhabdi near Dhaka

GLOBAL, November 21, 2025: The death toll from a significant earthquake in Bangladesh has reached 10 with over 600 people injured. The quake, measuring 5.7 on the Richter scale, struck at 10:38 am Friday with its epicenter near Dhaka in Madhabdi of Narsingdi.
The 26-second tremor caused widespread panic, prompting many to evacuate buildings and subsequently, reports of casualties and structural damage emerged.
Chief Advisor Muhammad Yunus expressed condolences and emphasized the importance of public safety measures following the disaster.
Of the deceased, four were in Dhaka, five in Narsingdi and one in Narayanganj. In terms of medical responses, Dhaka Medical College Hospital treated 59 patients while 13 were treated at Sir Salimullah Medical College Mitford Hospital. Additionally, 97 received minor treatment with 90 treated in Tongi and 43 seriously injured patients were transferred to Dhaka.
Geologist Prof Syed Humayun Akhter attributed the tremor to activity along the Indo-Burma tectonic plate, highlighting its impact on the region.
