AGARTALA, September 12 2020: Senior BJP leader and Member of Lok Sabha Pratima Bhowmik lashed out at ‘misleading campaign’ over alleged treatment mismanagement and shortcomings at the GBP Hospital, which has been dedicated Covid-19 treatment facility in the state.
She brushed aside reports that patients are dying at the facility due to acute oxygen crisis. There is no shortfall of oxygen and supply is adequate, she claimed.
“Doctors, nurses, health staffs and volunteers are working hard to help out patients”, Pratima, Chairperson of Patient Welfare Committee, stated at a press conference here Saturday suggesting that there is a need of positive approach to keep confidence of virus patients high.
She announced formation of a three member committee to probe how negative information over treatment procedure and oxygen shortage are spreading out. She suspected involvement of insiders for supply of fake information.
Pratima Bhowmik thanked the covid warriors for their services and informed 364 health staffs so far contracted coronavirus. Of them 139 have recovered and sent to home quarantine.
West Tripura district magistrate Dr Shailesh Yadav who was present at the press conference warned that the administration might invoke Section 54 of the Disaster Management Act to check circulation of false information and news.
