World Health Day 2026 observed with morning marathon
REGIONAL: The Department of Community Medicine at Shillong Medical College celebrated World Health Day 2026 Tuesday through various activities aimed at enhancing public health awareness. The event kicked off with a morning marathon that saw enthusiastic participation from both students and faculty.
Following the marathon, participants visited Lum Sohriew village in the Mawphlang block to deepen their understanding of rural healthcare delivery and to promote awareness regarding World Health Day, which bore the theme "Together for Health, Stand with Science."
This initiative underscored the importance of community engagement in healthcare and the need for preventive measures. The day's activities concluded with a strong commitment to bolstering public health systems and fostering a healthier society.
