GUWAHATI: In a refreshing departure from conventional race formats, Guwahati Sunday hosted its first-ever kids’ obstacle race, ‘Junior Circuit’, at Arya College Playground, drawing an enthusiastic turnout of children and parents.
Organised by Culture Club - preschool and powered by House of Play, the event brought together participants aged 3 to 15 years in a non-competitive format that prioritised participation, physical activity, and parent-child engagement over rankings or timings.
The debut edition witnessed participation from over 500 individuals, including nearly 250 children and around 300 parents, underlining strong community interest in experiential, family-oriented outdoor activities. The scale of turnout in its first edition signals a clear appetite for such formats in the city.
The nearly 1-kilometre course featured 15 purpose-built obstacles, including crawling tunnels, balance beams, and cargo nets. A defining highlight was active parental participation, transforming the race into a shared, high-energy experience rather than a spectator event.
Founder of Culture Club - preschool, Nikhil Mozika, said the response reflects a growing demand for meaningful outdoor engagement. “Junior Circuit is designed to build confidence, resilience, and joy through real-life challenges. The scale of participation shows how strongly families value such platforms,” he said.
Organisers also underlined the importance of addressing increasingly sedentary lifestyles among children by reintroducing structured yet enjoyable outdoor play. Every child who completed the course was recognised, reinforcing the spirit of effort and participation.
With a successful debut, Junior Circuit signals the emergence of a new, family-centric outdoor culture in Guwahati, with plans to expand the initiative in the coming editions.
