Events hosted for Athletics Federation of India delegates
NATIONAL: Nagaland Governor Nand Kishore Yadav hosted a cultural programme and official dinner at Lok Bhavan, Kohima, Tuesday to honour delegates attending the Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the Athletics Federation of India. The Governor highlighted the historic nature of the event marking the first time a National Sports Federation’s AGM has been held in Nagaland indicating a significant milestone in the state's sporting journey and a representation of inclusiveness and national integration.
In his remarks, the Governor expressed gratitude to the Athletics Federation of India for choosing Nagaland for this prestigious event and acknowledged Lalit Kumar Bhanot’s leadership and contributions to the development of athletics in India and the South Asian region. He praised Nagaland Athletics under the leadership of Abu Metha, for their commitment to promoting sports within the state citing previous successful events like the South Asian Cross-Country Championships and the current AGM as major achievements.
Abu Metha, who serves as the Advisor to the Chief Minister of Nagaland, Vice President of the Athletics Federation of India and President of the Nagaland Athletics Association, also expressed appreciation to the Governor for hosting the AGM delegates. The programme was chaired by Kethosituo Sekhose, the Director of Youth Resources & Sports, with closing remarks made by Thavaseelan K, Commissioner & Secretary to the Governor. The event included cultural presentations by the North East Zone Cultural Centre that showcased the rich traditions of the region.
