Sudip Roy Barman, TIPRA MLAs take oath Friday
Current strength of assembly is 59 after Pratima resigned

AGARTALA, March 17 2023: Congress heavyweight Sudip Roy Barman who has been keeping distance from the party since declaration of assembly election results took oath as MLA in the state assembly Friday. MLAs of the TIPRA which emerged as main opposition party in the state after winning 13 seats also took oath during the day.
Protem Speaker Binoy Bhushan Das administered the oath ceremony.
BJP MLAs, lone IPFT and two Congress members took oath Thursday. Sudip Roy Barman skipped accompanying party colleagues without giving any reason.
After Union MoS Pratima Bhowmik resigned from her winning Dhanpur, the current strength of members of Tripura assembly reduced to 59 from 60.
The assembly session, first after elections, will begin on March 24.
