AIZAWL: A team of 17 officers from the National Defence College (NDC) in New Delhi is currently engaged in a study tour in Mizoram, which includes a visit to Serchhip District. Their itinerary involves inspecting key sites, having arrived from Thenzawl Tuesday as part of the 66th NDC Course’s “Understanding India Study Tour (UIST).”

The delegation consists of Indian officers as well as international participants from Germany, Maldives, Morocco, Russia and Nepal.

The group convened a meeting at the DC Conference Hall, engaging with District Commissioner Paul L Khuma, district officials and local civil society leaders. During this session, they received a PowerPoint presentation detailing Serchhip's profile, including government initiatives, tourism potential, advancements in agriculture and horticulture, rural development programs, education and law and order measures enacted by local authorities.

An interactive session followed, allowing officers to ask questions and seek clarifications.

Subsequent to the meeting, the NDC team visited Zawlpui Zau to observe local government initiatives surrounding fresh produce and horticulture. They also toured the Anganwadi Centre at Tualvungi Veng in Thenzawl and visited Government Thenzawl High School, where they interacted with students and teachers.

Lastly, the delegation examined MV Handloom at Venghlun and the Integrated Ayush Hospital participating in discussions with the staff there.
