
REGIONAL: Nagaland Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla handed the Governor’s Award for distinction in the fields of Arts, Music and Literature 2025 during a ceremony at the Dr Imkongliba Ao Hall, Kohima, Monday. Emphasising the cultural richness of Nagaland, he highlighted the importance of arts and literature in preserving heritage while fostering creativity.
The Governor recognised that artists, musicians and writers play a dual role as custodians of culture and innovators. He commended the awardees for their discipline and originality, noting their contributions strengthen the state’s cultural identity and inspire future generations.
He acknowledged the importance of documenting indigenous knowledge, and the role of families and institutions in nurturing creativity.
The Governor stressed that cultural progression should align with economic and technological development and called for collective efforts to promote artistic talent. He encouraged award recipients to mentor emerging talents and contribute to cultural dialogue, concluding with congratulations to the honorees: Mannyei Konyak (Arts), Guru Rarenbenba (Arts), Colored Keys (Music), Moko Koza (Music) and Vishü Rita Krocha (Literature).
