IndiGo appoints Willie Walsh as its new CEO
NATIONAL: IndiGo has appointed Willie Walsh, former CEO of British Airways and current director general of IATA, as its new CEO following Pieter Elbers' departure. Walsh's tenure at IATA end director general of International Air Transport Association (IATA)ends on July 31 this year.
He will assume his role at IndiGo by August 3, 2026.
Rahul Bhatia, Managing Director of IndiGo, praised Walsh as an iconic aviation leader. Walsh expressed his excitement about leading IndiGo, highlighting its strong foundation, vision and exceptional reputation, while noting the rapidly evolving aviation landscape.
His appointment is pending security clearance from the Ministry of Civil Aviation, India.
