India celebrates its 77th Republic Day Monday
NEW DELHI: India celebrated its 77th Republic Day Monday with a vibrant showcase of its cultural diversity, economic strength and military capabilities featuring missiles, warplanes and advanced weapon systems used during Operation Sindoor. The event at New Delhi was attended by notable guests, including Antonio Costa, President of the European Council and Ursula von der Leyen, President of the European Commission highlighting its diplomatic significance.
The parade centered around the theme of 150 years of 'Vande Mataram' with a prominent presentation of the Indian military's Operation Sindoor.
President Droupadi Murmu led the event, taking salute from the Kartavya Path alongside Costa and von der Leyen in a traditional buggy. The celebration attracted a attendance Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, various Union ministers, military leaders and foreign diplomats.
Key military assets displayed included the BrahMos and Akash weapon systems, the 'Suryastra' rocket launcher, the Main Battle Tank Arjun and several indigenous military technologies.
