
NATIONAL: After the withdrawal period, West Bengal Phase-I has a total of 1,478 candidates across 152 Assembly Constituencies (ACs), while Phase-II has 1,448 candidates across 142 segments. The Returning Officers (ROs) have published the list of contesting candidates in the Official Gazette and securing all election-related documents in a sealed envelope.
To provide voters with information about the candidates, the “Know Your Candidate” tab on the ECINet App allows access to details such as qualifications and background, election commission said in a statement Tuesday.
It added that the ballot papers will display candidates' photographs and essential information in a large font for better clarity and convenience for voters.
The Election Commission had on March 15 announced the schedule for the General Election to Legislative Assemblies in Assam, Kerala, Puducherry, Tamil Nadu and West Bengal as well as bye-elections in six states.
For West Bengal (Phase-II), the deadline for filing nominations was April 9, 2026, followed by scrutiny on April 10 and the final opportunity to withdraw nominations by April 13.
