NATIONAL: Air India CEO Campbell Wilson announced his resignation Tuesday after nearly four years leading the airline through significant changes post-privatisation. Wilson, who joined in July 2022, informed the chairman of his decision in 2024 and will remain until a successor is appointed.
Under his leadership Air India increased its fleet by over 100 aircraft and completed cabin retrofits. However, the airline is facing challenging times, including a reported loss of 98 billion rupees in the last fiscal year and heightened scrutiny following the tragic crash of Flight AI171 in Ahmedabad.
Operations have also been affected by airspace closures in Pakistan and regional instability. Wilson's departure signals a transition as new deliveries are set to begin in 2027.
