
NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has underscored the necessity of developing a transparent, impartial and secure Artificial Intelligence (AI) ecosystem, emphasising that ethical use must not be compromised. He made the assertion during an interaction with CEOs and experts in AI at his residence in New Delhi Thursday.
Modi called for the adoption of new technologies across various domains to bolster national growth, advocating particularly for the utilization of indigenous technology in critical sectors.
In anticipation of the upcoming AI Impact Summit, Mr. Modi encouraged all participants—individuals and companies alike—to leverage this event to discover new opportunities that will facilitate significant advancements in growth. He pointed to India's success with the Unified Payments Interface (UPI) as a demonstration of its technical capabilities, suggesting a similar potential exists within the AI sector.
Prime Minister further articulated India’s unique attributes of scale, diversity and democracy, positioning these as factors that foster global confidence in the country's digital infrastructure. He reiterated the goal of utilizing technology not only to impact India but also to inspire trust and collaboration globally, urging the CEOs and experts to transform India into a prime destination for international AI initiatives.
The meeting was strategically aligned with the IndiaAI Impact Summit scheduled for February, aimed at fostering collaborations, showcasing innovations in AI, and accelerating the nation’s objectives related to AI development. The high-profile roundtable included participation from prominent CEOs representing AI-focused companies such as Wipro, TCS and HCL Tech alongside distinguished experts from institutions like IIIT Hyderabad, IIT Madras, and IIT Bombay.
