CM warns perpetrators of post TTAADC results violence

AGARTALA: Tripura Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha Monday announced financial assistance of Rs 64.50 lakh to support some 258 families who have been affected owing to violence post declaration of results of the TTAADC elections. He also called a high level meeting to be attended by the Chief Secretary and the DGP, among others, to be held tomorrow to discuss the present situation.

Dr Saha visited Bhagat Singh Youth Hostel here, where at least three hundred indigenous men, women and children took shelter after being displaced from different places. He spoke with the evacuees and enquired about their trauma.

Hundreds of BJP supporters have been driven out of their homes across the state in targeted attacks allegedly carried out by the Tipra Motha workers after their party won TTAADC elections by a huge margin. The spectacular victory of the regional party stunned the BJP that was hoping to unseat the Tipra Motha on corruption-free administration and good governance pledges.

Dr Saha took to social media to announce the financial assistance for the affected families from the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund to provide them with relief and assistance.

The Chief Minister at Bhagat Singh Youth Hostel blamed the Tipra Motha for unleashing violence with the intention of terrorizing tribal masses to prevent them from supporting the BJP. He said the government would act tough and would not allow the unrest to continue to disturb rule of law.
