
NATIONAL: The Indian Army has launched a technology roadmap for Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS) and Loitering Munitions in New Delhi marking a crucial advancement in outlining its long-term requirements in drone technology. This roadmap is intended to provide industry, academia and research institutions with clear visibility, facilitating focused investments and technological advancements in designated priority areas.
The initiative aims to establish a connection between the operational needs of the military and technological innovations enhancing the development of India's drone ecosystem in a structured and demand-responsive way.
During the unveiling, Lieutenant General Rahul R Singh, Deputy Chief of the Army Staff, underscored the shifting dynamics of modern warfare and the pivotal role drones play in contemporary combat scenarios. He stated that recent conflicts have shown the necessity for achieving a balance between mass deployment of systems and precision targeting capabilities.
The event was attended by key figures from the armed forces, defense industry, start-ups, and academic institutions, highlighting a collaborative national effort towards creating a robust and self-sufficient drone ecosystem in India.
