Chief Minister stressed the importance of timely justice delivery

AGARTALA, September 10, 2025: Tripura Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha opined that three new criminal laws will greatly benefit the judicial process in the future. He also highlighted that citizens have already getting adequate support from the implementation of these laws.
Dr Saha was speaking at the state-level exhibition on the new criminal laws here Wednesday. He inaugurated the state-level exhibition at the Indoor Exhibition Hall at Hafania.
Dr Saha, who is also Home Minister of the state, stressed the importance of timely justice delivery and the need for effective measures to implement these laws. He said under Prime Minister Narendra Modi's guidance, these ground-breaking laws were brought before the state on July 1, 2024, and passed in Parliament.
He lauded that Tripura is at the forefront in many ways ranking first or second on many parameters at the all-India level. The five-day exhibition aims to give people a detailed idea of what these three new criminal laws entail.
Chief Minister also mentioned that reforms are being carried out in all sectors, with deregulation taking place and citizen-friendly laws being implemented. The changes made in the new criminal laws have made processes easier and more effective.
Electronic report submission without physically attending a police station ensures transparency and speed. Zero FIR allows citizens to file complaints from anywhere, and if arrested, they can inform their closest or known person, he added.
The forensic team plays a crucial role in investigating various incidents or crimes, with priority given to cases concerning women and children. Investigations must be completed within two months, and arrangements have been made for free treatment in hospitals for victims of crime.
