Tripura CM announces Rs 692 crore MoU to build ropeway at two places

AGARTALA, September 27, 2024: Tripura Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha recently announced a comprehensive plan for the development of tourism in the state. As part of this plan, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) worth Rs 692 crore has been signed between the Tripura Tourism Development Corporation Limited and National Highways Logistics Management Limited.
This MoU will facilitate the construction of ropeways connecting Udaipur Railway Station to Matabari, Maharani to Chabimura and Surmachara to Jampui Hills. Speaking at the World Tourism Day event, themed 'Peace and Tourism' organised by the Tourism department here Friday, the Chief Minister stressed on the importance of the tourism industry in driving economic growth in both the country and the state.
He also highlighted the state's natural environment as a key tourism asset with numerous temples and mosques that support religious tourism.
Some of the popular religious tourist destinations in Tripura include the Tripura Sundari Temple, Kasba Kalibari, Fourteenth Goddess Temple, Mangalchandi Temple of Amarpur, and Mahamuni Pagoda. The government is also taking steps to beautify Matabari in Udaipur, and Narkelkunja and Dumbur have already been made more attractive to tourists.
The Chief Minister asserted that tourism is a major source of employment and plays a crucial role in economic prosperity and poverty alleviation.
The event was also attended by Tourism Minister Sushanta Chowdhury.
