AGARTALA, November 27, 2024: The third International Youth Festival Heritage Fest 2024 hosted by Yuva Vikash Kendra (YVK) in collaboration with Vishva Yuvak Kendra and Bajaj Foundation witnessed a significant moment Wednesday as the US Ambassador to India Eric M Garcetti visited the festival's campsite at Shaheed Bhagat Singh Youth Hostel in Agartala. The Ambassador, along with the Consul General of the United States Consulate General Kolkata Kathy Giles-Diaz engaged in insightful discussions with 400 young participants from 26 states across India.
The visit provided a unique opportunity for the youth to interact with high-level diplomats and gain global perspectives. Debashis Majumder, President of Yuva Vikash Kendra, extended a warm welcome to the distinguished guests.
In his welcome speech, he expressed gratitude for their presence and highlighted the importance of such interactions in fostering international understanding and cooperation. During his address, the US Ambassador Eric M Garcetti, emphasised the strong bond between India and the United States highlighting the role of youth in shaping the future of both nations and underscoring their role as leaders of the present, not just the future.
He also expressed his admiration for the vibrant energy and diverse talents of the young participants.
The Consul General of the United States Consulate General Kolkata Kathy Giles-Diaz also addressed the gathering commending the efforts of Yuva Vikash Kendra in organizing the Heritage Fest. She underscored the festival's significance in promoting India's rich heritage and fostering international integration.
Pinku Das, Organising Secretary of Yuva Vikash Kendra, thanked the Ambassador and Consul General for their visit and extended an invitation to the upcoming Heritage Fest 2025. The US officials expressed their enthusiasm for the invitation and assured the organizers of their support, including sending a delegation of young Americans to participate in the next festival.
During the programme Sujit Ghosh, Assistant Director of VHAT, and Vinay Gupta from Chhattisgarh was present on the dais. Heritage Fest 2024, a seven-day extravaganza, is being held from November 21 to 27th, 2024. The festival showcases a variety of cultural programs, workshops and competitions, providing a platform for young people to connect, learn, and celebrate their diverse heritage.
