Union Cabinet gives nod to terms for 8th Central Pay Commission

Will consist of a Chair, one Part-time Member and a Member-Secretary

NATIONAL, October 28, 2025: The Union Cabinet chaired by the Prime Minister Tuesday approved the Terms of Reference for the 8th Central Pay Commission that will make recommendations within 18 months of its constitution. The commission will consist of a Chairperson, one Part-time Member and a Member-Secretary.

The Cabinet also approved a nutrient-based subsidy of 37,952 crore rupees for Rabi Season 2025-26 on Phosphatic and Potassic fertilizers, which will be applicable from October 1. This initiative aims to ensure farmers have access to fertilizers at affordable prices, considering recent international fertiliser prices.
