UIDAI onboards Starlink for Aadhaar authentication

NATIONAL, August 21, 2025: The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) announced it has onboarded satellite-based internet provider Starlink Satellite Communication Pvt Ltd using Aadhaar authentication for customer verification. Aadhaar, a trusted digital identity system, ensures quick, secure and easy customer onboarding making it compliant with Know Your Customer (KYC) norms.

Starlink's onboarding with Aadhaar authentication signifies a powerful synergy between India's trusted digital identity and global satellite technology. Aadhaar e-KYC will facilitate seamless user onboarding, ensuring regulatory compliance while delivering high-speed internet to households, businesses and institutions.

Aadhaar authentication will happen on a voluntary basis as per existing rules.
