Tripura to host first North Eastern Council meeting

AGARTALA, August 19, 2024: Tripura Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha Monday announced that the state will be hosting the first North Eastern Council (NEC) meeting in Agartala. The meeting is slated from August 31 to September 1.
Dr Saha expressed his excitement, stating, "I am delighted that the NEC meeting will be held in Tripura. In the past, we had to travel to Assam and Meghalaya to attend these meetings. This time Union Home Minister Amit Shah and DoNER Minister will be attending, along with Chief Ministers and Governors from Assam, Tripura, Mizoram, Meghalaya, Sikkim, Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur and Nagaland”.
Chief Minister added that the meeting will also be discussing various issues related to Tripura, including border and developmental concerns. It will be an occasion to showcase the innovative work happening in Tripura and engaging in discussions with other northeastern states.
Dr Saha will chair a review meeting to ensure that all arrangements are in place for the large number of delegates expected to attend the NEC meeting.
