Tripura government requests DoNER to sanction Rs 38.35 Crore

AGARTALA, July 02, 2024: Tripura's Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha Tuesday made public a proposal of Rs 38.55 Crore to the Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER) for setting up an international standard sports complex. He said this during inauguration of the Dr Arunava Roy Synthetic Athletic Track at The Regional College of Physical Education (RCPE) at Panisagar in north Tripura under the "Khelo India Scheme".
This is the first synthetic athletic track set up in Tripura.
Saha stressed the state government's focus on sports infrastructure alongside education, stating that several synthetic turf football fields, swimming pools, and sports complexes have been established across the state. He also mentioned plans to set up an international standard sports complex at Bholagiri in Agartala, consisting of one natural football ground, a swimming pool, and multipurpose sports halls.
The Khelo India Scheme will set up multipurpose sports halls in Dharmanagar, Khowai, Ambassa and Belonia. Under the Mukhyamantri Sports Development Scheme, initiatives have been undertaken for sports development, including a basketball and volleyball court, an indoor hall, and the Office of the Sports Department in Teliamura under Khowai district, Chief Minister stated.
Dr Saha requested the Sports Minister Tinku Roy and Sports Department officials to ensure the nutrition of sportspersons. He emphasized that the state is progressing in sports, health, agriculture and other areas under Prime Minister Narendra Modi's direction. The state government has emphasized modern management techniques to make sports more popular among people.
