AGARTALA, November 10, 2024: TIPRA Motha, the alliance partner of the incumbent coalition government in Tripura announced Sunday its decision to hold state-wide demonstrations on November 14.
The demonstrations are aimed at pressing for three major demands: the elections for Village Committees within tribal autonomous district council areas, the complete implementation of the Tiprasa Accord and the consideration of the Constitution (125th Amendment) Bill in the upcoming parliament session.
The Tiprasa Accord, which was signed in New Delhi, addresses social, political and cultural issues faced by the state's indigenous people. TIPRA Motha founder Pradyot Kishore Debbarman argues that the election for Village Committees is long pending and should be held immediately in accordance with a high court order.
To further their cause, the party plans to submit a memorandum addressed to the Governor to district magistrates, SDMs and Block Development Officers.
