First-hand exposure to functioning of India’s parliamentary democracy

REGIONAL, April 19, 2025: The Rajya Sabha Chairman and Vice President of India, Jagdeep Dhankhar, felicitated the Co-Founder of Totell, Dr Mughavi A Tuccu from Satoi Village under Zunheboto District to complete the Rajya Sabha Internship Programme (RSIP-1) Batch 6 at a valedictory ceremony at the Vice-President’s Enclave along his wife Sudesh Dhankar, the Secretary General of the Rajya Sabha, PC Mody, the Secretary, Raji Punhani and Secretary Staff of the parliament.
It is an initiative designed by the Chairman and Vice President of India to give first-hand exposure to the functioning of India’s parliamentary democracy in terms of the legislative and executive processes behind policymaking; laws are shaped and passed in parliament. More than 10 members of parliament and union ministers, think-tank institutions and parliament secretariat officers took part in interns training interns.
He was assigned to the Department -Parliament Standing Committee on Personnel, Public Grievances, Law and Justice to observe the legislative process at close quarters, and his research papers were on the Issue of Delimitation- Constitutional Provisions, Need for Amendments, Current Challenges, Government Response, Future Road Map and Recommendations.
Dr Tuccu was the only representative from North East states out of 32 interns from 11 states of India. Dr Tuccu expressed gratitude to the Vice President of India, S Phangnon Konyak, MP Rajya Shaba (Nagaland), his family and the Government of India for the opportunity.
