Tendulkar pays tribute to veteran spinner Rajinder Goyal

NEW DELHI, June 22 2020 (HS): Sachin Tendulkar paid tribute to veteran spinner Rajinder Goyal on Monday. He was the best spin bowler of his time.
Goyal passed away at the age of 77 Sunday.
Sachin tweeted, “Sad to hear about the death of Rajinder Goyal ji! He was a veteran of Indian domestic cricket taking over 600 wickets in Ranji Trophy. May his soul rest in peace and my heartfelt condolences to his family and friends.”
Goyal, a left-arm spin bowler, has taken 750 wickets at an average of 18.58 in a 27-year career. He played till the age of 44 and represented Patiala, Delhi, South Punjab and Haryana. The experienced spinner has taken five wickets in an innings 59 times and 10 wickets in an innings 18 times.
With 637 Ranji Trophy wickets, Goyal played his last match in the 1984–85 cricket season. Despite a brilliant record in domestic cricket, Goyal never played for Team India.
In 2017, the Indian cricket board (BCCI) awarded Rajinder Goel with CK Naidu Lifetime Achievement Award.
