Security forces gun down 6 NSCN-IM cadres in Arunachal

ITANAGAR, July 11 2020 (HS): In a joint operation of six Asaam Rifles, Indian Army and Arunachal Pradesh Police, six NSCN(IM) armed cadres were killed at longding district of Arunachal Pradesh Saturday.
Four AK 47, two MQ-81, nine magazines, one explosives, 1 HE Grenade, 2 IEDs (4 kg tiffin box and 1 kg pipe-style), electric wire of about 1000 meters length were recovered from them.
As per police sources, an input was received on July 10, verified by different agencies, that a team led by SS Captain. Somnyam Tangkhul and 5 other cadres are camping in general area Nginu, Wakka Circle, District Longding, and they are planning to abduct market president and secretary of Longding market.
Accordingly a joint operation was launched under leadership of CO 6th Assam Rifle and SP Longding Police.
In the wee hours of July 11, first contact was made by a team of 6 AR in jungles between Nginu and Ngissa. Later remaining teams also moved in formation and fire fight continued for about 1:30 hours to 2 hours. CO 6 AR and SP Longding were also present on the spot.
As per inputs, NSCN-IM armed cadres were sent by Deputy of Self Styled Major General Absolom Tangkhul of NSCN (IM), who was also involved in murder of former MLA Tirong Aboh on May 21 2019.
