To promote the benefits of millet consumption, benefit farmers

REGIONAL, October 22, 2024: The "Promotion of Millets in India" initiative organised by NERAMAC, held at Aijal Club in Aizawl Tuesday. The aim is to increase awareness and promote the benefits of millet consumption in order to ultimately boost production by farmers.
PC Vanlalruata, Minister of Agriculture in Mizoram, praised NERAMAC's efforts in promoting millets for a healthier future. He emphasized the importance of collaboration between NABARD, NERAMAC and the State Government to benefit farmers.
Commodore Rajiv Ashok highlighted the nutritional benefits of millets and the Government of India's focus on promoting them, leading up to the International Year of Millets in 2023. Ramdinliani, Secretary, stressed the need to preserve and promote millets for food security and agriculture.
The event featured stalls selling millet products and aimed to increase awareness among the public. Around sixty beneficiaries including farmers and entrepreneurs from Assam and Mizoram participated in the event supported by the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, Government of India.
