Six Air Cushion Vehicles for the Indian Coast Guard
Ministry of Defence would spend Rs Rs 387.44 crore for procurement

NATIONAL, October 24, 2024: The Ministry of Defence has signed a contract with Chowgule & Company Pvt Ltd, Goa, for the procurement of six Air Cushion Vehicles (ACVs) for the Indian Coast Guard. The procurement would cost Rs 387.44 crore.
These amphibious vessels, also known as 'Hovercrafts', will be manufactured in India for the first time in line with the government's 'Aatmanirbhar Bharat' vision. The procurement aims to boost the Indian Coast Guard's capability and reinforce maritime security.
The modern ACVs will be used for various maritime roles, including high-speed coastal patrolling, reconnaissance, interception, search and rescue operations, and assistance to ships and crafts in distress.
