Police worst sufferer in Bangladesh Covid-19 crisis

AGARTALA, May 24 2020: The surge of coronavirus cases in Bangladesh have reached to an alarming proportion with nearly 35,000 infections. The body count may not be huge; still the toll is rising on a daily basis.
In the whole dismal scenario country’s police force appears to be worst sufferer. Policemen of all ranks are failing prey to virus.
12 police officers and personnel died after being infected by coronavirus, according to data released by the government Saturday. Total infected men in uniform number around 4,000.
Of the total number of infected police personnel, 1,277 are from Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP).
An Additional Deputy Inspector General, eight Superintendents of Police, 19 Additional SPs, 20 Assistant SPs, 97 Inspectors, 386 Sub-Inspectors and 481 Assistant SIs - total 1012 police officers are in the infection list.
Bangladesh police have rented several private nursing homes and some hospitals for purpose of treatment for its virus infected officers and personnel.
Meanwhile 279 members of Ansar organisation, an auxiliary police force, also infected with Covid-19, reports from Bangladesh said.
