PM announces total lockdown in country for 21 days

NEW DELHI, March 24, 2020: Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced total lockdown in the entire country to cope with fatal Covid-19 menace.

‘I am going to declare a very important decision in our battle against Covid-19. The entire country will be under lockdown from midnight ‘, Modi said in his second live televised address to the nation in less than a week.

He asserted that the lockdown will be harsher than Janta Curfew which was imposed on Sunday last and would be like a real curfew.

Prime Minister detailed the gravity of the epidemic that has already taken a heavy toll across the world and infected several lakh people.

Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb welcomed PM’s announcement on complete lockdown in the country.

“I appeal every citizen of Tripura to strictly follow the lockdown”, Deb tweeted and appealed people with consolatory words – stay home, state safe.
