Opposition parties hold street protests against hospital fees

AGARTALA, September 9, 2019: Activists of major opposition parties in Tripura on Monday held protests at various places in Tripura on Monday over hefty hike in service fees in government hospitals. The health department recently made all services and pathological tests in government hospitals chargeable.
Security personnel prevented Congress leaders and workers from holding protest at GBP Hospital in Agartala. The protestors held placards and their faces were tied with black ribbon.
CPI(M) workers led by senior leaders like Pabitra Kar organised noisy protests outside office of Director, health services. Kar alleged poor patients are dying for not getting proper treatment which has been made costly.
Meanwhile a section of ruling BJP reportedly not happy with decision of the government over huge hike and withdrawing free treatment facility without analysing adversity and affects on people at large.
