AGARTALA, November 18, 2024: The North East Students' Organisation Jalandhar (NESOJ) held its 9th General Elections at St Joseph's Convent School in Jalandhar. The event was organised by the Nomination Committee comprising Dr Themmeichon Chamroy (Chairperson), Dr Yendrembam Krishnakumari Devi and Laitphar Syiem.
Representatives from all eight North Eastern States’ Unions / Organisations were present, symbolising unity and collaboration within the diverse North Eastern community.
The programme commenced with a ceremonial lamp-lighting by the Nomination Committee Members and the outgoing President and Vice President Himan Debbarma and Gebi Jisow respectively. This was followed by the election proceedings conducted in adherence to the NESOJ Constitution.
After a meticulous process, the committee was elected for the 2024-2025 term -

6. Assistant Finance Secretary: Tai Reniam Avi (Arunachal Pradesh)
7. Cultural Secretary: Parikarma Thapa (Sikkim)
8. Assistant Cultural Secretary: Agun (Tripura)
9. Sports Secretary: Yemling Padung (Arunachal Pradesh)
10. Assistant Sports Secretary: Palil Laishom (Manipur)
11. Women’s Secretary: Juliana MS Dawngzuali (Mizoram)
12. Media & Publicity Secretary: Raya Debbarma (Tripura)
13. Literary Secretary: (Vacant)
14. Assistant Literary Secretary: Sathavi Sale (Nagaland)
15. Information & Database Secretary: Angshuman Chetia (Assam)
16. Assistant Information & Database Secretary: Ishwarlal Rajkumar (Manipur)
The 9th President of NESOJ for the new term, Archita Dutta, is the first woman to hold this position, marking a significant milestone in NESOJ's history. Archita’s leadership represents a step forward in empowering women and fostering inclusivity within the organization.
The oath-taking ceremony was administered by Major Duzo Kiso, symbolizing the commitment of the newly elected members to serve NESOJ with dedication and integrity.
In the Presidential address Archita Dutta congratulated the newly elected executives and expressed her confidence in their collective efforts to drive NESOJ’s vision forward. She emphasized the organization's responsibility to its members across all eight states and reaffirmed her commitment to NESOJ’s core values of unity, culture, and excellence.
Archita highlighted key priorities for the upcoming tenure, including the formal registration of NESOJ, the development of a dedicated website as a digital hub for activities and updates, the establishment of an emergency fund to assist members in critical situations, the creation of a comprehensive blood group database for timely medical support, and strengthening ties with state and central governments, along with other North East organizations, to foster better opportunities for the community. This was followed by a vote of thanks by Laitphar Syiem, member of the nomination committee.
The North-East Students' Organisation Jalandhar (NESOJ) was established in 2013 with the motto "Integrity, Prosperity, and Excellence." NESOJ is committed to representing and supporting the interests of NorthEastern students in Jalandhar, Punjab, and fostering a sense of community and unity among its members.
This election marks a new chapter for NESOJ as it continues to represent and serve the interests of North East students in Jalandhar. The newly elected team pledged to uphold the values and mission of NESOJ while fostering unity, culture and growth among its members.
