I7B Ministry to auction of 730 FM Radio channels in 234 cities

NATIONAL, November 20, 024: The Ministry of Information & Broadcasting announced that the Union Cabinet has approved the auction of 730 FM Radio channels in 234 cities across India. This initiative aims to provide a new and improved listening experience for radio audiences in cities that were previously only covered by private FM radio stations.
Since its establishment in 2001, private FM radio has expanded to 113 cities with 388 channels making a significant contribution to the media landscape. New expansion is expected to create job opportunities in the radio sector and bring entertainment to listeners across the country.
The Ministry of Information & Broadcasting has released a notice inviting applications from potential bidders for the e-bidding process of the 730 channels in 234 cities.
