KOHIMA, January 28 2021: The full text of the press release from the Cabinet Cell, Government of Nagaland, is:
“The State Cabinet had an emergency meeting at 7 pm Thursday.
The Cabinet expressed shock at the sudden demise of T Temjen Toy, Chief Secretary of the State Thursday evening. The Cabinet placed on record its sincere appreciation of the exceptional services rendered by Late Temjen Toy in his 32 years of illustrious service career.
A legendary officer of the Stale Late Temjen Toy joined the Indian Administrative Service (IAS) in 1989. During his illustrious career he served in several important positions in the Government with great distinction. He was Deputy Commissioner of Mokokchung during trying times and his exceptional handling of the delicate law and order situation during that period is still talked about.
While at the helm of the affairs in all the major departments of the State, he provided outstanding leadership and left an indelible mark in every Department he worked. He displayed splendid administrative acumen while serving as Commissioner Nagaland as well as the Principal Secretary to two Chief Ministers.
As Chief Secretary, his leadership to the entire government machinery matured and measured advice, counsel, and the tremendous goodwill enjoyed by him cutting across the length and breadth of the State was a source of immense strength to the Cabinet and the government officials. He made tremendous contributions and galvanized the entire Government machinery to fight the Covid-19 pandemic ensuring the people of the State were least affected.
The void created by the demise of Late Temjen Toy would be difficult to fill.
The Cabinet conveys its deepest condolences to the members of the bereaved family and prays to Almighty God to grant them strength and solace during this time of grief.
State funeral to be accorded to late Temjen Toy
The State Government has decided to accord State Funeral to Late Shri Temjen Toy, IAS, Chief Secretary, Nagaland, who breathed his last at Kohima Thursday. The State Funeral will be held on the January 29 at 12 noon at the Official residence of Chief Secretary, Nagaland, Officers Hill, Kohima.
All the Government Offices in Kohima on the 29th January 2021 shall remain closed so as to enable the government employees to pay their last respect to the departed soul.
Central IAS Association Condoles
The Central IAS Association has expressed deep shock at the passing away of Chief Secretary Nagaland, Temjen Toy. The Association has conveyed its heartfelt condolences to the family of Toy. His passing away is a big loss to IAS as a service and to people of Nagaland, a message from the Association read.
Those who conveyed their condolences include Secretary Defence, Establishment Officer, DoPT and many senior and retired IAS officers.
Governor condoles
In a letter to Ruovi Toy, wife of Late Temjen Toy, Nagaland Governor RN Ravi expressed grief over demise the Chief Secretary. He wrote:
I am extremely saddened and shocked at the untimely demise of Shri Temjen Toy, IAS, the Chief Secretary to Government of Nagaland Thursday at Kohima.
We have lost an able administrator and one of the finest human being. He was a warm hearted and a cheerful human being. As an administrator he was always willing to take on difficult responsibilities and made his mark as a conscientious public servant. His contribution to the people of Nagaland in various assignments will be remembered for ever.
At this moment of profound tragedy, please accept our heartfelt condolences.
Let the Almighty God give strength and fortitude to you and other family members to bear this devastating loss and eternal peace to the departed soul.
